Barot is one of the best tourist spots located in the Mandi district of Himachal Pradesh. This place is located at a distance of 40 Km from Joginder Nagar and 66 Km from Mandi. Best time to visit Barot Valley
Tourists can visit this alluring place at any time but the best time to visit this place is between April to June in the summer season, and from December to February in the winter season. This is the time when the weather of the Barot Village remains amiable. One needs to avoid visiting Barot in the monsoon season as the region receives more rainfall during this time, so almost all the roads are closed at this time.
How to reach Barot Valley?
One can reach Barot Valley in the following ways such as –
By Air – Gaggal Airport is the nearest airport to Barot located at a distance of 90 Km from Barot. So one of the best options is to take a flight to Gaggal airport and then hire a cab or taxi to reach Barot Valley. The taxi or cab will not take more than 3-4 hours to reach there.
By Rail – Joginder Nagar railway junction is the nearest railway junction located at a distance of 40 Km from Barot. This railway junction is connected by the narrow-gauge railway line to Pathankot. Further Pathankot railway junction can be reached by various major stations in India. Once you reach Joginder Nagar, you can either book a cab or take a bus to reach Barot.
By Road – One of the most outstanding methods to reach Barot Valley is by road. Barot Valley is located at a distance of 295 Km from Chandigarh. One can reach Barot from Chandigarh by taking the route as Chandigarh > Bilaspur > Sunder Nagar > Mandi > Barot. But if you are coming from Pathankot or Punjab, then you can take a route as Pathankot > Kangra > Palampur > Joginder Nagar > Barot.

Spend time at the Barot dam
Barot dam is located on River Uhl and was made by British rulers as part of a small hydroelectricity project known as the Shanan Hydel Project in the early 19th century. This dam is the first hydroelectric power station in India and is a masterpiece of human engineering. There is nothing much to do at the dam site, but it is worth checking out for its engineering excellence and the natural scenic abundance around.

Nargu Wildlife Sanctuary
This is one of the favorite tourist destinations, which is situated on the banks of the Uhl River. This wildlife sanctuary associated with Barot Village has many wildlife animals such as blackbuck, bear of the Himalayas, antelope-like goral, and several other mammalian, reptile, and avifaunal creatures. Apart from visiting this place, tourists can even stay at this place. This is a place good for a pleasurable morning walk. The best time to visit this wildlife sanctuary is from April to May and from August to October.

Trekking
